With the heat index pushing 105 there at Verdict Rige golf course, some of our seniors were struggling with the heat. Their higher than usual scores were good indication of it.
By mid way through the course an overcast rolled in and things became more playable. Not to take anything away from Verdict Ridge, which is a beautiful laid out course. The greens and fairways were in masculus shape. Everyone truly enjoyed playing there.
Now as for the younger guys it was another story. The two top dogs, Robert Ritch and Stephan Woodward as we know are two of the better players. So if you want to beat them, you need to bring your "A" game and hope they slip up a bit. True to this day both shot a gross score of 80 here at Verdict Ridge. So who won. Well, you can see why Woodward is smiling in the picture. His handicap is slightly higher than Ritch so he got to take home first place prize. Next in line came Herman Fletcher out of no where to claim second place. Looks like we're going to have to keep eyes on him. He has a sneaking way of coming from behind on everyone.
