With the threat of  an in coming thunderstorms,
NCDGA golfers managed to get in their second golf
event of the year. The tourney took place near the
rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The golf
course at Cedar Rock Country Club was not in the
best of shape. The fairways were plotted with crab
grass, goose grass, bare spots and fescue with very little bermuda to be found. At time we were not sure if we were in the fairway or the rough. In spite of all that, the rolling greens and  many doglegs holes here and there made it somewhat enjoyable. You could tell the Country Club was facing some of the problems that many other course were, with the down turn of the economy. We should not expect everything to be pristine, right?. So as always, of the 17 golfers who showed up, they did not let that interfere with their game. By the end of day, out of nowhere came a new champion, Everette Patterson, who took everyone by surprise by shooting a net score of 72. Close behind were Robert Ritch and Darrell Moore, who were one shot off the lead.  Everette, in fact had never won before. You see, Everette has been toying with the idea of playing golf for the past several years, but never really took it seriously enough until Charles Crowe pulled him in. They would get together up at Quaker Meadows in Morganton, NC and played a
few rounds;  primarly on Mondays. Sometime his Dad would join in an give him a few tips. Now it looks like he hooks on the game and will become another one of NCDGA regular members. Welcome aboard!
For more of the scores and to see who is still on top of their game, feel free to check April Golf Event..........
The next golf event is May 19th at Carthage, NC. The golf course we'll be playing is "Little River". Tee time is 1:00 pm. Cost is $76.00  Chris McMahan is the hosting member. Chris has indicated that one of the reason we are playing this fine course is to find out if it suitable for 2013 SEDGA tournament. So come on out and participate, we are going to need your input.
